About Literature Unit

 

The Literature Unit was started by the ELCT Head Office for the following reasons:

  1. To coordinate the production of essential Church Literature like the Lutheran Song Book (Tumwabudu Mungu Wetu), and the ELCT Lectionary, to name a few
  2. To sell Christian Literature and other liturgical items to customers in order to support ELCT Head Office administration costs

We thank God that since its establishment, the Unit is experiencing gradual growth and it is currently one of the major income-generating projects at the ELCT Head Office contributing up to 35% of Office administration costs.  

Currently, the Literature Unit runs the following projects:

ELCT Maandiko House

ELCT Maandiko House. The project is located at Ngarenaro in Arusha City Council. It acts as the main Literature House for the ELCT. Items sold in this house are mainly books like Bibles, Songbooks, Lectionaries, theology literature, books for primary and secondary schools, and office stationaries. On top of these, the house also contains a range of liturgical items like clerical shirts, collars, gowns, wafers, and wine for Holy Communion, candles.

ELCT Tailoring Mart

ELCT Tailoring Mart. This one is located at the ECLT Head Office premise. It mainly deals with selling numerous liturgical items like clerical shirts, collars, gowns, wafers, and wine for Holy Communion, candles, communion cups and trays, and altar decors. Essential Christian literature can also be accessed at this place. The mart also contains various cultural items that fit both internal and international customers.

ELCT Tailoring Unit

ELCT Tailoring Unit. The Tailoring Unit is also located within the ELCT Head Office premise. It deals with the production of all kinds of liturgical vestments used within the Lutheran and other allied churches. Vestments produced here include clerical gowns and shirts for both pastors and bishops, stoles, and altar decors.

ELCT Dar es Salaam shop

ELCT Dar es Salaam shop. The shop is strategically located at the Centre of Dar es Salaam business city opposite ELCT Eastern and Coastal Diocese headquarters. Items sold in this house are mainly books like Bibles, Songbooks, Lectionaries, theology literature, books for primary and secondary schools, and office stationaries. On top of these, the shop also contains a range of liturgical items like clerical shirts, collars, gowns, wafers, wine for Holy Communion, altar crosses, and candles. The shop also offers internet services to customers.
