“THE DEAF HEARS”

Mwanga School for the Deaf is a primary school owned by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania-ELCT.  The school was founded in 1981 for both girls and boys in Tanzania. It is therefore among the common work of the ELCT. Both the facilities and the management system have made it the best primary school for the deaf in Tanzania. The MOU between the ELCT and the Mwanga District Counsel (for the government of Tanzania) protects the collaboration between the Church and the government. The school is allocated 1.5 km from Mwanga District Counsel headquarters in the Kilimanjaro region. Since its beginning the school has educated more than 360.Currently the school has a total of 103 students boys being 53 while girls are 50. Children in Mwanga School for the deaf are protected, developed, and cared as right in the child rights, child development policy, education policy; and right in the sight of God.

Our Achievements

  1. Through competent Special Education teachers the school has succeeded to provide quality knowledge including computer knowledge that links the students to digital and science and technology generation

2.  Effective provision of various vocational skills which help them to manage life through self employment.

  1. The School has Suceed to provide Self reliance activities for the Deaf Pupils
  1. Development of children for physical fitness through sports and games.

5. The school has not only succeeded to nurture the children intellectual but it has also managed to groom them spiritually that they may see and respect  the role of God in their life; and  they maintain their good relationship with God.
